Actually, it is riding a bike. Last night, after an incredibly full, wonderful, and exhausting weekend, I determined that the cool September evening would be perfect for a walk. However, my roomies proposed a bike ride instead. So, for the first time in over a year, probably close to two, I climbed aboard a bicycle and took off down the street. With the breeze in my face and the asphalt beneath my wheels, I rode down to the transit center and back with two of my roomies. I'm beginning to remember how much I enjoy biking. I love how when I suddenly return to an old love, visions of going extreme fill my head, like forgetting about Old Blue each morning and riding a bike to the bus stop instead, visions of saving gas money for visiting family, of pulling a helmet over my hair and having an excuse for it looking... um... ridiculous on a regular basis. The problems with such visions and ideas is I don't necessarily follow through with them. I would need a bike. rain gear for this season. a light. a helmet. a bike lock. ... but it would be excellent exercise.
This weekend, my sister and I ran our 10k race down at Green Lake. My time was about what I expected it... slow. :) It was better than I would have run on my own, of that I am certain. The run was a blast with a few hiccups and my older brother surprised us by showing up to cheer us on with his lovely wife. Of course, my brother-in-law was present :) He gave us a ride down to Green Lake early in the morning and did such wonderful things as carried our water bottles and took us to the fair afterwards. What a full day!
Gotta go start work.... maybe :)

Re-arranging
One of my many roommates is getting married next month and gradually the house around me is changing. I am beginng to remember how much I enjoy rearranging furniture and belongings and yet the underlying dislike of change. The question of whether to embrace the new or regret the absence of the old.
I spent the afternoon with my roomies at Ikea, including our new roommate that will be joining us come October. Ikea is a necessary store that on Labor day weekend is just slightly overwhelming, over packed, and crazy, although enjoyable. The end result, of course, was to replace the furniture that is leaving the house with new and exciting items. Also, I wanted a reading chair for my room... typical Ikea chair, but I chose the bright green cover. I feel as if green is gradually invading my life. :)
Christmas is coming; fall is filling the air with heavy rains that remind me more of South Carolina than the typical Seattle. I have been in a creative mood lately and I hope to be posting photos of my recently finished projects soon. They have to wait until they have been given to the said individuals first :)
